UL has developed more than 1,000 Standards for Safety. These are essential to public safety and confidence, reducing costs, improving quality, and marketing products and services. Millions of products and their components are tested to UL’s rigorous safety standards with the result that consumers live in a safer environment than they would have otherwise. Through UL Environment, UL is also developing Standards for Sustainability for both products and organizations.

Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) Standards

ULC Standards develops and publishes standards and specifications for products having a bearing on fire, life safety and security, crime prevention, energy efficiency, environmental safety, security of assets and facilities, live working and workplace safety and other areas.

As the Lighting business transforms with LED and Solid State Lighting technology, Underwriters Laboratories® can help manufacturers produce safer products and convey confidence in those products with the most widely recognized safety certification mark in the U.S. UL provides testing and certification services to all applicable UL Standards, the majority of international standards, EMC and FCC standards, Photo biological standards, Energy Star, Lighting Facts Label, and performance testing.
